My name is Ko Rodenburg. Coming from agriculture I worked 25 years at the city of Rotterdam as Parks Superintendant. There are close to 280 athletic fields with accomodations that had to be maintained and renovated. There were requirements for high-quality pitches in the city. The clubs and players wanted natural pitches for training purposes and competition that can be used continuously. Next to that the city wanted to cut down maintenance costs.



For me it was a challenge to create natural high quality pitches. To reach that goal and to tackle the existing problems it was necessary to develop new machines. Coming from agriculture, machinery was a hobby. I started designing the machines with the goal to work faster in the summerstop, to save on material, equipment and labour costs and to bring the quality of the pitches to a higer level.



The first designed machine was the Topdrain, about 12 years ago. This machine removes soil by making 3 trenches and backfills these trenches from its own 3,5 m3 sand hopper. The sandslits created are installed crosswize on to the original drainage system in a field, which means we now have a drainage network. It nearly continues and doubled our playing hours on the same fields.



About 8 years ago, the Recycling Dresser was developed. The design and action of this machine is an ideal treatment during and after the playing seasons. Specialy devel
